One Crazy Summer tells the story of three sisters who travel to Oakland, California, in 1968 to meet the mother who abandoned them. Eleven year old Delphine is like a mother to her two younger sisters, Vonetta and Fern. She's had to be, ever since their mother, Cecile, left them seven years ago for a radical new life in California. When they arrive from Brooklyn to spend the summer with her, Cecile is nothing like they imagined. source: Amazon.com

I think chapter one of One Crazy Summer is a good start. It makes the book interesting so I liked it. It’s also a story that might be based on a true story. Big Ma is a caring grandma and a caring mom. It’s kind of funny too because of Big Ma.
I think the girls expect from Cecile is for her to give them their money back. I think the girls also expect for Cecile to be more respectful to them because they shouldn’t get mistreated at their own mom’s house. I would expect that she should be hugging and kissing them because she hasn’t seen them in a while. By Kanaya Dunigan Stocking Elementary 5th Grade
